Your Honeymoon Makeup Kit!

August 18, 2017

I recently went on a family  holiday to New Zealand, and I found myself packing a heap of makeup and thought to myself, WHHHHYYYYYY!??!?!?!? I’m on holidays! Am I really going to be wearing a lot of makeup?

Makeup is apart of my DNA, so of course I wasn’t going to go full commando on our romantic mummy and daddy free time dinner dates!

But I did pack light, and it was really refreshing! So I thought I’d share with you what I packed, because I think this could work for my brides and honeymoons as well!

My makeup kit included the following:

michelle cato makeup blog

Yep! That’s it! For 10 whole days. ( I know! I even surprised myself!)

So let’s run through the items.

Foundation

Ella Bache Sunguard and Suncover Foundation. Why two foundations? Because one is very thick and gives great coverage and conceals even the darkest of circles which is great for travelling and the other,  Suncover , is a medium coverage foundation that makes your skin feel fresh and glowy. The beauty about these products, is that they are high protection sunscreen, which is perfect on not only sunny days, but have you ever been skiing on a sunny day? Yep- you get sunburnt! All of that sunlight reflection from the snow! These products also have lanolin in them which is great to help protect your skin in these harsh conditions and doesn’t let your skin dry and flake up. So whether it be tropical or snow, these two products are my must have.

Hourglass Pallet ( from Mecca Maxima)

As you can tell from the photo, its getting to the end of its life. I love this pallet for personal use because it has everything you need! The top powders are great for highlighting cheekbones and I utilise them as a setting powder for the foundation as well, just to cut back on another product. It also has three choices of blush including a bronzer so you cant go wrong.

Brush

My ONLY brush I took! One side for blush, one side for powder set. That’s it! I like the way I can build up blush on a brush and get a custom colour every time. Especially when I travel. Its from Makeup Forever, PM Studio.

Eyes

Mascara -Lancome Hypnose- The best mascara ever.

Eyeliner- Lancome Le Crayon Khol in Noir. I’m pretty sure this one came as a travel size with my mascara. A great travel piece to darken and smudge eyeliner giving more of an evening look when required without having to cart around a pallet of eyeshadows.

Eyeshadow – Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Taupe. I only used this for evening, opting to leave my eyelids bare for day use. Doing this made me feel more “made up” at night time. I just blended it in with my fingertips to save adding in an eyeshadow brush.

Brows- Mac Cosmetics Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set in Bold Brunette . This is a new product for my personal kit which I purchased especially for the trip because I wanted a ‘brow mascara’ type product for ease and simplicity with giving a bit of colour ( I ran out of time for my brow wax and tint!!) Am very happy with it, so thanks to the helpful girl at the Wollongong Mac Counter at David Jones for putting me onto this one!

Lips

Two lip products, purchased duty free at the airport. It wasn’t that I forgot a lip product and got desperate, I just have this thing of buying a lipstick at airports…. so knowing this fetish I have, I didn’t disappoint myself 🙂

Featured here are Tom Ford’s Lip Colour in Indian Rose and Ultra Shine Gloss in Pink Guilt.

My Tips for Holiday Makeup

Keep it simple and use products that are versatile. Foundation that has a high SPF will help protect you against the elements. A fab lip colour will make you feel more made up so take after me and splurge on a new lippy at the airport! It will also give you great lasting memories from your trip once you are back home again!
